Welcome to Evolution Dog Training & Behavior Consulting

Evolution Dog Training offers premier dog training & behavior consulting services throughout Western New York. Whether your dog is barking, lunging, jumping, pulling on leash, to the more serious behaviors (reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety) or you just want to get started off in the right direction and prevent problems, I am here to help.

Our C.O.R.E dog training philosophy and positive approach to training and behavior modification are all designed for real everyday situations.

C - Consistency. The key to dog training is to be consistent. In order to set your dog up for success, you must make sure you remain consistent.

O - Operant conditioning training. This method of learning via consequences will help build a lasting bond between the two of you and you'll be rewarded with a happy, well-trained dog.

R - Relationship. All good relationships are built on trust, mutual respect & love. Training is about strengthening your relationship with your dog. Think, Leadership without confrontation.

E- Environment. Creating an environment where your dog can thrive as members of the family.

In addition to my C.O.R.E training philosophy, as a Certified Family Dog Mediator my programs are designed with the L.E.G.S of your dog in mind. You might be thinking... the L.E.G.S of our dog?...

Let me explain.

Learning,Environment,Genetics, & Self = L.E.G.S

L- Learning is the acquisition of knowledge or skills through experience, study or being taught. Learning is not a singular event, it is a continuous process. Your dog is taking notes on everything & those BIG learning moments can shape their perceptions & reactions in the future.

E- Environment (there's that word again! Yeah, it's that important) is the area, habitat, or conditions in which an animal lives or operates. The environment influences our dog's actions at any given moment. Conditions, signals, & events in the environment either work for your dog or against them.

G- Genetics are the genes & traits that are passed down from one generation to the next. This means what your dog was originally bred for matters & will play a role in their behavior. Terriers DIG, Beagles BARK, Border Collies HERD etc..

S- Self is the set of individual internal conditions unique to your dog. Their age, health, sex, & life experiences are all part of what makes your dog one of kind. They are individuals, just as we are.

We have some exciting news!

EDT will be hosting a new puppy class in 2023!!

We have joined up with SuperNova Dogs in Tonawanda, NY to bring our dog community this one of a kind class.

PUPPIES UNLEASHED is a 7 week training-socialization course (ages 10 weeks -16 weeks) designed to give your puppy safe & proper interactions with other puppies & people.

However, this is no ordinary puppy class, as the name states; puppies are in fact.....unleashed!!

This class will offer a proper balance of learning & play! (studies show incorporating play with learning helps the learner retain the information better). This class will help dog owners learn how to read & understand their puppy's way of communicating (via body language) and how to be a proper advocate for their puppy.

In addition, your puppy will learn to respond to you while off leash which is what most dog owners want, that can be really hard to achieve in a class being taught strictly on leash.

Private In Home Instruction

Private in home dog training lessons are highly beneficial for both owners and dogs.

Our one-on-one training takes place in the very environment the behavior is occurring. We focus on building a strong foundation of skills that will help you and your dog navigate through everyday life.

Our in home training program gives you the convenience of scheduling lessons that fit your schedule. We have daytime, evening, and weekend hours available. During a in home private training session, the trainer is able to solely focus only on you and your dog. You have the trainers undivided attention to help you fine tune your training skills, answer any questions you may have, and to address any challenges that you may be experiencing while working with your dog.

We start off with an initial consult which is typically 1.5 hours. During this time will discuss training goals, training equipment, and recommendations. A training plan will be developed to provide you with the skills necessary to get started working towards your goals.

Once you have selected a training package- we will meet either weekly or bi-weekly. Each session is 45 minutes-1 hour long.

Please keep in mind that training your dog is not a quick process and will take time and commitment from you. You must be willing to make the necessary changes for your dog to be successful. Behavior change is a two way street.

Behavior Modification Programs

What is Behavior Modification and how is it different from training?

Unlike dog obedience training that trains a dog to perform specific actions when requested, ideally behavior modification looks to change a dog's reaction to a situation, a person, a thing, and animal(s).

The overall program works to change how the dog thinks, feels, and acts. By focusing on what is going on inside the dog.

Behavior Modification programs are for dogs who are reactive, anxious, fearful, excitable, and those who suffer w/ separation anxiety

You just brought your puppy home... now what?

Bringing home a new puppy is always fun & exciting however it can also be challenging!

Especially with work, kids, family, friends, along with other commitments owners often struggle to find the time to properly train their new puppy. By living with a certified dog trainer I will help you make the best out of your puppy's critical learning & socialization period . My foundation training protocol will set you & your puppy up for success in a fraction of the time giving you a nice strong, reliable behaviors to build on.

We only take one puppy at a time to ensure that your puppy gets individualized care and attention, multiple training sessions and field trips in a day combined with adequate play time. Our Puppy Board & Train program is designed to focus on puppy appropriate socialization, problem prevention, grooming and handling, and of course foundational manners. This involves multiple training sessions, field trips in a day combined with adequate play time, individualized care and attention and more.

2 week Board & Train includes: In-home consultation, customized training plan, daily updates; video/pictures, transfer training sessions
